Yorchem and C&E launch pigment joint venture at IILF
UK-based manufacturer of chemicals for leather finishing Yorchem has launched a new joint venture for pigments in India with local manufacturer C&E. Work on the joint project has been going on for some time but the two companies made it public at the IILF exhibition in Chennai at the start of February.

Speaking in Chennai, Yorchem sales director, Julian Osgood, said import duties of up to 20% on a number of leather chemicals products had made it difficult for his company to secure as much business in India as it would like to have, but he described the new joint venture as a good way of making an impression on the Indian market.

C&E is developing pigment products for tanners in the Indian market, using ingredients available locally and machinery and production techniques it has developed hand in hand with Yorchem. First to market is a range of anionic pigments called Yorcol A, but the offering will expand in the near future to encompass casein-free pigments and, after that, cationic pigments too.
