Senior leather machinery figure dies

A senior figure in the world of Italian leather machinery, Foresto Mostardini, died on Christmas Day at the age of 74. Mr Mostardini, the former owner of the Mostardini leather machinery company, died at his home in the city of Empoli in Tuscany.

A prominent local politician as well as business leader, Mr Mostardini’s funeral, which took place in Empoli on December 26, attracted a large congregation, with senior representatives of government, business and all walks of local life in attendance.

The Mostardini company, which is best known for its pressing, buffing, polishing and de-dusting machines, changed ownership in 2008, with office machinery supplier Barnini taking over.
