Italian tanneries Grupo Dani and Conceria Superior are among exhibitors heading to Dubai for the second edition of Leatherworld Middle East.

Held from April 26 to 28, organisers said the event supports the Gulf region’s $6 billion dollar leather market.

The debut show attracted 2,400 visitors from 66 countries and 86 exhibitors. Around 125 exhibitors are expected at the 2016 event.

The GCC produced $1.9 billion worth of leather, luggage, handbags, saddlery, harnesses and footwear in 2014, according to research firm Euromonitor, with Saudi Arabia ($1.1 billion), the UAE ($468 million), and Qatar ($250 million) the region’s big three producers.
