BASF wins recognition for ‘resource efficiency’

30/11/2015
Leather chemicals manufacturer BASF won a special award for resource efficiency at the 2015 German Sustainability Awards. At a special ceremony in Düsseldorf at the end of November, a jury recognised BASF for efficient raw material and energy use and the development of innovative business models for sustainability.

As an example of this, BASF has pointed to the “mass balance” method, which uses renewable raw materials from the very beginning of the value chain and calculates savings of fossil resources for each product.

BASF was also nominated in the category of ‘Most Sustainable Large Companies’.

The German Sustainability Awards recognise companies that make significant contributions to sustainable development on a national and international basis.
