Brazil’s agriculture ministry, Mapa, has begun a public consultation exercise to help decide what the criteria should be for a new, proposed training programme for abattoir workers. All organisations with an interest in how animals are treated before and at slaughter are invited to make contributions, the ministry has said; they have until mid-January to respond.
It said it would use the information it gathers during the consultation exercise to help the country’s packers design new training programmes for abattoir workers.
