Dates confirmed for Lanxess MRSL symposium

20/11/2015
Leather chemicals manufacturer Lanxess has confirmed that a special symposium on restricted substances in the leather supply chain will go ahead in Cologne on January 21 and 22.

In partnership with CADS, a joint body that footwear brands have set up with the German Shoe Institute (DSI), Lanxess proposed the event at the start of November. It has now confirmed Cologne as the venue and has published a draft programme.

Presentations will include a talk on the current situation in the leather market from Dr Dietrich Tegtmeyer, vice-president for innovation and industry relations in Lanxess’s leather business unit. His colleagues Dr Martin Kleban, Dr Marc Hombeck and Luis López-Remón will also speak, as wil representatives of CADS and other organisations.

At the end of the symposium, delegates may be able to visit Lanxess’s syntan production unit in Cologne or the IMM furniture exhibition, which will take place in Cologne at the same time. However, Lanxess has warned that, because of IMM, hotel space in the city will be at a premium. It has taken a block-booking at a hotel near Cologne airport and has asked people aiming to attend to confirm their interest in the coming days to secure one of the rooms.
