Leather’s tactile qualities important for La-Z-Boy
Furniture brand La-Z-Boy has said while it is important that customers can feel the leather sofas in stores, it will increase its focus on its online presence.
The US-based retailer reported sales for the second quarter up 5% to $382.9 million.
“While we believe most people still ultimately prefer a retail store experience so they are able to touch and feel the furniture and view our leathers before making a purchase, a significant majority visit our websites before or during their shopping process,” said CEO Kurt Darrow.
He cited improved efficiencies within the manufacturing facilities and supply chain, as well as strong retail sales, for the company’s growth.
“With sales trends accelerating throughout the period, we are pleased to enter the third quarter with momentum,” he added.
The group plans to open 15 net new stores in fiscal 2016.
