Arturo Calle declares leathergoods idea a success
Colombian retail group Arturo Calle has said a new leathergoods and footwear concept it launched in July, AC Leather, has had a successful first few months.

Founder, Carlos Arturo Calle, invested $1.5 million in extending the company’s production capacity and carried out two years’ market research to get AC Leather off the ground. He started by setting up corner stores for AC Leather in 14 existing Arturo Calle shops in different parts of Colombia. Following un uptick in sales of 30% in these 14 locations, the company launched its first standalone AC Leather store in November.

Located in a new shopping mall in the town of Chía, just to the north of Colombian capital Bogotá, the new store has as one of its main features what the company claims is the country’s first ‘Belt Bar’, at which customers can buy customise AC Leather’s range of belts. “What we want is to keep finding new ways of satisfying the particular wishes of each of our customers,” said Mr Calle on introducing the concept.

He added that more standalone AC Leather stores will follow, with openings in various parts of Colombia.
