Leather Pipeline: why each market segment has changed in a different way
It may be tempting to make a sweeping description of the situation in the global industry at the moment but, according to the most recent edition (November 3) of our exclusive Leather Pipeline report, it’s unhelpful to try to rope all market segments together.

The Leather Pipeline report, which is available in the latest edition of our Leatherbiz Weekly electronic newsletter and here in the Market Intelligence section of the leatherbiz website, makes it clear that “a general statement for the leather business and industry, as was made frequently in the past, is not adequate for this time”.

Instead, it takes readers through various market segments, including automotive, furniture upholstery, footwear and luxury accessories and says what effect developments in hide prices in the course of 2015 have had on each. Price changes have been far from consistent in the different markets that use finished leather and the report attempts to explain these differences case by case.
