Mario Levi hails Lectra’s Versalis a success

Turin-based Mario Levi had been using a die-press system to cut leather before but said it had become concerned about dies becoming warped or even broken, slowing down its ability to meet the demands of its customers.
Since deciding to invest in Versalis and working closely with Lectra to integrate the system effectively and efficiently into the tanning group’s production set-up, Mario Levi’s chief operations manager, Lele Ogliaro has said his company has achieved an increase in productivity of up to 20% and an improvement in yield of up to 4% per hide.
The Italian company has also expressed appreciation for Versalis’s ability to identify defects on hides and the contribution the system has been able to make to Mario Levi’s efforts to introduce lean manufacturing principles to its production set-up.
