Praise for leather and footwear progress in Cuban province

28/09/2015
Officials from Cuba’s ministry for industry have paid tribute to the contribution leather and footwear production are making to industrial development in the province of Villa Clara.

The ministry’s representative in the province, Idael Hidalgo Cruz, said in recent comments that Villa Clara is cementing its place as the third-most important industrial province in Cuba, after Havana and Holguín. He spoke specifically of “important renewal” in local footwear production and said a tannery in the town of Caibarién, Tenería Patricio Lumumba, is now processing 80% of the hides Cuba produces.
