Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fès has announced that it will start a bachelor’s degree course in tanning and leather production in the new academic year, which begins in October.

On making the announcement, the university said it wanted to support the development of the country’s leather sector, especially that of the Aïn Cheggag cluster close to Fès.

The course will be validated by a technology institute, the École Supérieure de Technologie, in the Moroccan capital. It will take three years to complete and leather industry professionals will share teaching duties with academics at the university.
