The decision is part of a government commitment, announced exactly one year ago, to keep diversifying manufacturing in Peru and to base growth on innovation, science and technology, the president of the ADEX exporters’ association, Eduardo Amorrortu, told local media at the time of the announcement.
Concrete plans include giving tax incentives to companies for investing in research, development and innovation, including investments in new machinery and technology, and also providing government investment to upgrade national Centres for Innovation and Technology (CITES), which are already in place for a number of industries, including footwear.
