Colombian minister announces new export credit line for shoe and leather companies

Colombia’s business minister, Cecilia Álvarez, has said the government there will offer a credit line of almost $70 million to manufacturers in the leather and footwear sector that want to move into export markets.

Ms Álvarez announced the development at Colombia’s International Footwear and Leather Show (IFLS) in Bogotá at the end of July. She also said Colombian companies will be able to receive a reduction in tariffs on imported raw materials and machinery if they are able to show that the products they need are unavailable in Colombia.
