Cleaner production project in Tunisia reaches its conclusion

Switzerland’s embassy in Tunisia has concluded a project it has run in the north African country for the last five years to help local manufacturing companies develop cleaner methods of production.

Leather-sector companies were among 80 Tunisian enterprises to take part in the programme, reducing their use of water and energy and improving their environmental management. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) took part in some of the leather-specific exercises.

The Swiss embassy in Tunis has said it calculates the initiative will add millions of euros to these companies’ bottom line in the coming years.
