Why 2015 could be “a lost year” for Turkish producers of garment leather
22/06/2015
A number of tanneries, especially among those who focus on double-face and garment nappa articles, have decreased production and some have closed down altogether, reports say. Total leather garment export revenues for Turkey were $640 million in 2014, but some commentators believe this figure could fall to around $500 million this year.
Production will be affected by the holy month of Ramadan, which this year runs from June 18 to July 17, and then by high temperatures and holidays in summer. Some commentators have begun to talk of 2015 as “a lost year” for the industry.
