Argentinean tannery Curtiembres Fonseca, winner in 2010 of the award for the Americas in the first Tannery of the Year Programme, has won a new contract to supply leather for a new General Motors (GM) platform.

GM announced in 2012 that it would build a new vehicle for the global market at its factory near Rosario. The project’s name is Fénix. Now Curtiembres Fonseca has won the business of supplying cut leather sets for the interior, which it will ship to tier-one seating supplier Johnson Controls for sewing.

The tannery, based in Avellaneda near Buenos Aires, has already begun making leather kits for pre-launch presentation models of the Fénix.
