Automotive brand Audi has secured first place for 2014 in a ranking called the Sustainability Image Score (SIS), produced by German market-research and consulting company Facit Research.

German consumers voted the brand into the position of most sustainable company.

“This first place confirms that we are on the right track. We are shaping individual mobility responsibly and are making ourselves fit for the future,” said Professor Peter Tropschuh, Audi’s head of corporate responsibility.

The company has also said that “numerous sustainability and environmental initiatives in Mexico” will form part of its strategy there when it opens a new production plant there in the second half of 2016.
