Mississippi TanTec is a “vision come true”
President and chief executive of tanning group ISA, Thomas Schneider, has said the opening of the group’s third tannery, its first in the US, in Mississippi at the end of May was “a vision of ‘Made In The USA’ come true”.

At a formal opening ceremony at the Mississippi TanTec tannery in Vicksburg on May 29, Mr Schneider said: “Manufacturing in the US allows us to be much closer to raw material suppliers and customers. We are also pleased to bring our Low Impact On The Environment (LITE) philosophy to the US market, minimising our environmental footprint while providing premium quality leather to customers.”

Initial production capacity at the new facility will be around 600,000 square-feet per month and it is expected to generate around 360 new jobs in the next five years.
