Location shift for China’s shoemakers

As part a government strategy to move manufacturing from China’s coastal areas inland, new figures highlight rapid growth for leather shoe-makers in Sichuan, Chongqing, Jiangxi, Anhui and Hunan.

Chongqing’s leather shoe output has grown by a quarter for the past five years.

However, new figures put China’s leather shoe output at 5.4 billion pairs in 2014, down 9% over 2013.
