Beef exports from Brazil down in volume and value

Brazilian beef exports for the first four months of 2015 fell year on year by 15% in volume, to 426,000 tonnes, and by 17% in value, to $1.8 billion.

The president of meat exporters’ association Abiec, Antônio Jorge Camardelli, has said his member companies are optimistic about an upturn in the second half of 2015. Representatives of the Brazilian beef industry are preparing for a technical visit from potential new customers from Saudi Arabia, which Abiec says could also open doors in neighbouring markets such as Bahrein, Qatar and Kuwait.
