Brazil’s March leather exports increase in value

Brazil’s department of overseas trade has released figures that show an increase in leather and hide exports in March.
 
The country’s leather sector achieved export revenues of $255 million in March, an increase of 1% compared to the figures for March 2014, and of more than 30% compared to February 2015.

Tanning industry association CICB welcomed the results. Its president, José Fernando Bello, said: “The numbers reflect the segment’s effort to remain competitive in an economic scenario as challenging as the one we are facing in 2015. We intend to keep on stimulating the industry to draw up strategies that maintain or increase Brazilian leather exports.”
