Car design teams know the value of leather
A project designer at French automotive original equipment manufacturer Renault, Stéphanie Petit, has said designers in automotive companies need no convincing of the attractiveness of using leather in car interiors.

Speaking at the Future of Automotive Leather conference in Bordeaux on March 24, Ms Petit told the audience: “At Renault we have leather options for all cars because we know the customer loves leather. We know this from the benchmarking exercises we carry out and from surveys; we in design don’t have to be convinced about it. With synthetic materials the feeling in the interior of the car is completely different.”

She acknowledged that her colleagues in purchasing often look at this subject from a different point of view, but said that both departments work closely together.
