Price controls will help Argentinean SMEs, minister says

Argentina’s commerce minister, Augusto Costa, has said a proposed programme to control the price of finished leather will help small and medium sized manufacturers of leathergoods and footwear there.

Mr Costa said in recent comments that what he hoped to do was “allow the weakest players in this value chain to live side by side with the strongest”.

Speaking of a newly created prices ombudsman in Argentina, the so-called Prices Observatory, the minister said: “This new tool has come out of new legislation we have put in place to protect consumers. Its aim is to make transparent the whole process of deciding the price of products and making available across the board information on the availability of goods and services across Argentina.”
