Tanning machinery a bright spot for Italy
25/02/2015
Although Italy’s economy has shown few signs of recovery in recent years, following the long recession that began in 2008, tanning machinery has been a genuine bright spot.
Preliminary figures released by tanning machinery manufacturers’ association Assomac at the start of TanningTech show that in 2014 Italian companies produced machinery for the tanning and footwear sectors with a combined value of €518 million.
From this, the value of machines exported to tanners and shoe producers outside Italy had a value of €422 million last year.
Compared to the figures for 2013, these two statistics show increases of 10.1% and 11.9% respectively.
