No buyer for French leathergoods manufacturer

Courts in northern France have decreed that a high-end leathergoods manufacturer in Vaux-sous-Aubigny is to go into liquidation. The company, Guené, had been in operation in the area for 108 years and employed 88 people.

A family-run firm, Guené was a contract manufacturer producing bags and other leathergoods for prominent luxury brands such as Dior, Chanel, Nina Ricci and Lagerfeld. It went into administration at the end of November, with the authorities giving the owners until the start of February to find a buyer for the business. No buyer has come forward.
