Brazilian hide exports fall by almost a quarter in January

Exports of hides and skins from Brazil had a value of $183.2 million for the month of January 2015, a decline of 9.3% compared to the same month in 2014, and of 28.2% compared to December 2014.

In terms of volume, Brazilian tanners exported 2.2 million hides in January, down by almost 25% compared to the figure for December 2014. Of January’s 2.2 million hides, 44.1% left Brazil as wet blue and 43.4% as finished leather.
