Luxury car-inspired leathergoods brand expands
French leathergoods entrepreneur Philippe de Vilmorin has announced that efforts he began in 2011 to resurrect a famous old automotive brand as a luxury leathergoods brand for the twenty-first century are to continue with the opening of a second boutique.

On 9 February, a new boutique bearing the name of Delage will open in London, adding to the flagship store Mr de Vilmorin already runs in Paris. His ranges are also on sale in around 30 high-end multi-brand boutiques around the world.

Four years ago, he bought the brand, which originally belonged to the Delage luxury motor company, founded in France in 1905; it ceased production in 1953. Its founder, Louis Delage, had a famous slogan: “Do just one thing, but do it well.”

Philippe de Vilmorin said from the start that he wanted his leathergoods brand to reflect this luxury automotive heritage, attempting to use leathers reminiscent of vintage car seats in his bags, for example.
