100 years on, Brazil aims to reach $7 billion in beef exports

This record total will come as the industry celebrates 100 years since Brazil made its first export shipment of beef.
ABIEC said on making the announcement that it has even higher expectations for 2015, predicting export earnings of more than $8 billion next year, with shipments of around 1.7 million tonnes of beef from Brazilian packer firms.
Its president, Antônio Jorge Camardelli, said his reasons for optimism include the lifting of bans on exports of Brazilian beef (imposed following an atypical cases of BSE earlier this decade), as well as progress on negotiating market openings in the US and other parts of North America.
