Brazilian tanners exported leather, hides and skins with a total value of almost $2.5 billion in the first ten months of 2014, according to figures from the country’s ministry of development, industry and overseas trade.

Brazilian tanning industry association CICB has said the figure represents an increase of 21% compared to the value of exports in the same period, January to October, in 2013.

Exports in October brought in $249 million, which CICB said was 5.1% up on the figure for the same month last year.
