Fire at Rio Grande do Sul tannery
25/09/2014
Fire broke out at the Gobba Leather facility in Nova Esperança do Sul just after midnight on September 23. The authorities later said a fault in a machine was the cause.
Production was running at the time, but there were no injuries. The company’s internal firefighting team was able to keep the blaze at bay until the local fire service arrived on the scene. The management team was not able to reach an immediate assessment of the likely cost of the damage.
Gobba Leather processes around 2,500 cattle hides per day and makes semi-finished and finished leather for customers in the furniture and automotive segments.
