Handbags help Ferragamo hit H1 growth

Luxury group Salvatore Ferragamo recorded growth of 6% in revenues for the first half of 2014, reaching €659 million, and an increase in profits of 8% compared to the same period last year.

The Florence-based group highlighted an increase in sales of handbags and other leathergoods of  16%, while sales of footwear, for which Ferragamo has always been most renowned, up by 6% (at constant exchange rates).

Together, footwear and leathergoods accounted for 78% of all of the group’s revenue in the first half of this year. Footwear sales brought in more than €280 million in the course of the first half of the year. The figure for leathergoods was almost €235 million.
