Growth in the Philippines: overseas companies encouraged to manufacture there

Leather production in the Philippines grew by 40% in the second quarter, the country’s chief economist, Gil Beltran, has said.

Mr Beltran said the manufacturing sector in general would drive growth in the Philippines over the next 20 years. To combat inflation, he said, the government must attract more overseas companies to invest in the country’s manufacturing sector
