Hermès reaps the benefit of increased leathergoods production capacity

22/07/2014
Luxury leathergoods brand Hermès has reported first-half revenues of €1.9 billion, an increase of 12% (at constant exchange rates) compared to the same period in 2013.

Leathergoods & Saddlery, which includes bags, luggage, horse-riding materials and small leathergoods, contributed €840.7 million to this total, with this part of the business increasing by 12.6% (again, at constant exchange rates) compared to the first half of last year.

Hermès said specifically that the growth in its leathergoods business was supported by the ramp-up in production capacity it has achieved since opening two new leathergoods factores in 2012 in the Ise`re and Charente regions of France. It has also launched construction projects for two further production units in Franche-Comté in the east of the country.
