Bangladesh: tax breaks for companies to take production away from the cities

13/06/2014
The government in Bangladesh appears to have offered some incentives to the country’s leather industry in its budget for the 2014-2015 financial year, which runs from July 2014 to June 2015.

The government will facilitate a skills development training programme specifically for the leather and footwear industries and there are also special tax benefits for companies setting up production outside the jurisdiction of the main cities.

At the same time, there will be a reduction in duty from 20% to 15% on imports of water-based pigments for leather finishing.
