Brazilian hide exports for March more than 30% up in value

Tanners in Brazil exported hides valued at more than $250 million in March 2014, registering growth of 31.9% compared to the figure for the same month in 2013.

In terms of volume, more than 3.2 million hides went for export in March 2014, an increase of 14.3% compared to the same month last year.

Finished hides accounted for 52.1% of the total value in March 2014, but only 39.6% of the volume. Wet blue, on the other hand, contributed 33.7% of the value, but 48.3% of the total volume.
