The Pakistan Tanners’ Association (PTA) has said its members want to increase exports of finished leather to China, Japan and South Korea. The industry body has begun lobbying the government in Islamabad to secure zero-duty export status to those markets.

PTA campaigns for a reduction in import duties into Pakistan of some important leather chemicals, new subsidies for participation in international industry events and for help in bringing used tanning machinery into the country have also begun.
