Growth in volume and value in January and February for US hides

New information from the US Department of Agriculture shows that exports from the US of fresh or wet-salted hides in the first two months of this year surpassed 5.9 million pieces, an increase over the same period in 2013 of 4%.

In terms of value, fresh and wet salted hides brought in $297.4 million in January-February 2014, year-on-year growth of 1%.

Exports of wet blue over the same two-month period grew by 11% year on year, reaching a total of just over 2.5 million hides. Wet blue exports grew in value by 12% compared to January-February 2013, reaching almost $143 million this year.
