Northampton to host ‘Leather is my Job’ event

15/04/2014
A regional event for the Leather is my Job project will take place at the Sunley Centre at the University of Northampton on Thursday, April 26. The project aims to promote the leather industry as a career choice for European job-seekers, particularly the young.

COTANCE, the representative body of the leather industry in the European Union (EU), launched the project in December 2013. It is working jointly on the idea with trade union organisation industriAll; together they refer to themselves as the sector’s “social partners”. The initiative has the support of the European Commission.

This regional meeting in Northampton will be a small event, with around three presentations in the morning and an open discussion session in the afternoon, with the aim of highlighting recruitment issues and sharing ideas to address these, including training and education options. The attendees will include European tanners and representatives from trade associations, unions and higher education.
