40 years of valuable leather information on new UNIDO web portal
11/04/2014
Available online at www.leatherpanel.org, the portal’s aim is to disseminate information on best practice in the leather industry. It will include what UNIDO has called “an extensive collection of publications, manuals and reports” that are the result of more than 40 years of its involvement in the leather value chain. These reports and publications provide an opportunity to see the main issues addressed by the leather sector over past decades.
For easy reference, the publications are divided into several categories: trends, leather processing, leather products, cleaner technologies, solid wastes, tannery effluent treatments, training and trade.
A number of training programmes is also available in an e-learning section of the portal. Courses include an introduction to tannery effluent treatment, footwear pattern engineering
UNIDO has stressed that the portal is still a work in progress and it hopes to add additional resources in the months and years ahead.
