Work begins on new tannery industrial park in León
Local media in León in the Mexican state of Guanajuato have reported that construction work has begun on a new industrial park for the city’s tanneries.

León has a reported total of 500 tanneries, many of them close to residential areas, and the authorities have made it clear that they would like those running their own beamhouses to move to the new industrial park.

The new site will cover an area of 135,000 square-metres in the south of the city with space for more than 100 small, medium and large tanneries. It will have links to the city’s common effluent treatment plant. The project is expected to require a total investment of $130 million.
