Dispute over Lineapelle likely to go legal

Italian media have reported that the partners behind the Lineapelle leather exhibition failed to reach agreement at a meeting on March 25 over a proposed move from Bologna to Milan.

A Lineapelle company exists, a joint-venture between representatives of the Italian tanners’ association, UNIC, and the company that runs the Bologna exhibition centre, BolognaFiere. Reports say a vote over the proposed Milan move resulted in six votes in favour from the UNIC side and five against from the Bologna side.

However, the president of BolognaFiere, Duccio Campagnoli, issued a statement after the meeting saying that the organisation was prepared to take the dispute to the courts. It claimed that UNIC opening discussions with its rival, the Rho exhibition centre in Milan, was in breach of the statutes of the Lineapelle company.
