Hermès created 900 new jobs last year

Luxury brand Hermès has reported revenue of €3.75 billion for 2013, growth of 7.8%. Its earnings on this total were €1.2 billion, growth of 8.9%.

It said its leathergoods and saddlery division achieved growth of 9% in 2013. “Demand remains very high,” the brand said of this part of its business. It said it will continue to expand its leathergoods collections and develop its production capacities and gave particular mention to the increase in production it has been able to achieve by introducing two new factories, in the Isère and Charente regions of France, in 2012.

It confirmed already announced plans to continue this production capacity expansion by creating two new factories in the Franche-Comte´ region.

The Hermès Group created over 900 new jobs in 2013, more than 500 of them in France. It said most of these new positions were in sales and in production. By the end of 2013, the group’s workforce comprised 11,037 employees, of which 6,631 were in France.
