Hopeful 2013 results for leather and footwear in Spain

Across the wider fashion industry in Spain, only leather and footwear achieved growth in 2013. Unlike textiles and finished garments, which showed declines of 0.7% and 5.9% respectively, leather and footwear’s manufacturing output achieved growth in value in 2013 of 2.4% compared to its results in 2012.

This represents a significant turnaround; the 2012 result indicated decline compared to the previous year of 6.4%.

Leather and footwear’s results for December 2013 were particularly encouraging, showing growth compared to the same month in the previous year of 26.7%, and tanners and footwear manufacturers registered 31.4% more orders than in December 2012.
