Downturn in sheepskin demand puts Uruguayan tannery into administration

15/01/2014
The drying up of demand for Uruguay’s sheepskins in the course of 2013 has forced one of the country’s tanners, Bray Paul, into administration.

Montevideo-based Bray Paul, a specialist in processing sheepksin, was named in an official report as one of 52 Uruguayan companies to have sought protection from bankruptcy in the course of 2013.

Across all sectors, 52 companies taking this measure is the highest total for at least five years.
