Toshiba invests in wastewater sector

Japan’s Toshiba has bought a strategic stake in UEM India, a wastewater management firm that counts tanneries among its clients.

India Value Fund Advisors will continue to own a majority stake in the venture but Toshiba's investment will be used to expand the company and access new areas. 

The water management sector is $500 billion market, growing at 7% a year. UEM’s Krishan Kshetry said: "The water sector has tremendous opportunities and we have the right tools and partners to achieve our vision."

Headquartered in Noida, India, UEM also works in the power and breweries sectors in more than 30 countries and has annual revenues of $70 million.
