Rolls-Royce adds its name to car brands with record sales in 2013

It sold 3,630 cars globally during 2013, the company’s fourth consecutive record year, compared to 3,575 in 2012, an increase of 1.5%.
Sales in the Middle East were up by 17% and in China by 11%. There were also strong sales performances in Germany, Japan and Canada, but there were also sales in Turkey, Lebanon, Nigeria, Vietnam, Taiwan and Australia.
The company opened 15 new dealerships across the world in 2013, taking the total to 120 for the first time in its history. Further dealership expansion is planned for 2014. It also announced a 2014 recruitment programme for 100 new permanent jobs based at its headquarters in the south of England. More than 1300 people are now employed by Rolls-Royce worldwide.
Torsten Müller-Ötvös, the company’s chief executive, said he was delighted with a fourth successive record year. He said it was “a result that reaffirms our leadership of the super-luxury segment” and added: “This is an extraordinary British manufacturing success story born of a commitment to delivering only the very finest super-luxury goods.”
