China: Relaxed customs controls could benefit leathergoods

Pamela Lin, logistics director at LVMH Perfume & Cosmetics in Shanghai, told the publication that the non-duty barrier in China is very high and to qualify shipments may be held up for laboratory tests that can take at least 10 days.
But the company is in negotiations with officials to delay the tests until after its products are distributed to retail outlets.
Only companies with good production control, a good reputation and the ability to ensure an effective product recall, would qualify for the fast-tracking, she said.
