Market for wastewater treatment technology to get close to $1 billion
12/12/2013
New analysis from consultancy Frost & Sullivan shows that demand for leather is lending momentum to the water and wastewater treatment market across the globe. On announcing a new report on the subject, Frost & Sullivan said: “The growing importance of green practices and focus on reducing overall water footprint encourages the adoption of advanced treatment technologies. In addition, the need for the modernisation and upgrade of existing treatment facilities to fulfil strict legislations fuels market revenues.”
According to the analysis, technology for the global waste and wastewater treatment was sector valued at more than $580 million in 2012, but will grow in value to just short of $990 million by 2020.
A Warsaw-based environmental industry analyst at the company, Paulina Blaszczyk, commented on releasing the research that Frost & Sullivan expects the end-user market for this technology, including tanning companies, to undergo “rapid consolidation”, but she said this would “reinforce the position of large-scale manufacturers” and widen the scope for the use of water-efficient treatment technologies.
She added: “Providing innovative, customised and cost-effective treatment solutions that meet quality standards and reduce energy as well as chemical consumption will be crucial to sustain growth in this market. Treatment solution manufacturers must expand their service portfolio or look for strategic partnerships to broaden their offering and meet client demand for comprehensive solutions.”
