A team representing India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) will visit Australia and New Zealand in the second quarter of 2014 to plan future imports of raw material.

According to the CLE, securing supply of high-quality raw material will be important for the leather industry in India to keep growing.

India recorded growth of 13% in exports from its leather sector in the first four months of this financial year (April-July 2013), compared to the same period in 2012. The government has set the industry a target of $14 billion in exports in 2016-2017.
